Who Are They Trying to Kid? Everybody knows Bush Lied.
by Dan Merica - from OpEdnews.com
The only people buying this Bush/Cheney tent show are the never-say-die entrenched Republicans and those suffering from Alzheimer’s. What a charade, the both of them feigning indignity and charging that the Iraq War critics are irresponsible and unpatriotic for questioning whether or not the ‘Neo Con’ Bush gang was only honestly mistaken when they spoon fed bogus prewar intelligence to Congress and the American people. In truth, it is irresponsible and unpatriotic to not question these men who are benefiting by this war and who have not convincingly proven a need for this war after two thousand and counting of our bravest have been killed and tens of thousand more have been maimed.
Actually, the Brits ratted on them in the Downing Street ‘smoking gun’ memo. The memo came from a meeting of Tony Blair’s top officials in which ways to ‘legally’ attack Iraq were being discussed. Two of them reported on what they were told during their recent talks with Bush’s high officials in Washington. “The intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy.” And, the policy was to remove Saddam, through military action, justified by claims of terrorism and WMD’s.
Also, the way Bush handled the U.N. weapons inspector was very telling. If Bush was honestly seeking real intelligence with which he could determine if Saddam actually held weapons of mass destruction and was truly a threat, why did he cut short the U.N. weapon inspectors’ search for WMD’s and not wait for their final report to come out before making a preemptive strike against Iraq? The reason why is that the inspectors had found none to date, and Bush knew their final report would deny the existence of any WMD’s in Iraq. So he had to stop it from ever coming to fruition because he couldn’t “fix it around his policy” as he did with all his manufactured ‘intelligence’. And, with the U.N. inspectors report inconsistent with ‘his policy’, all his bogus ‘intelligence’ would become suspect and he would have a hard time selling his war.
