Bush Politicos Were Not So Willing to Ship Body Armor to Our Troops in Iraq
Many of the deaths and injuries of our young soldiers in Iraq could have been prevented if they had the armored vehicles that Bush failed to provide them from his $87 Billion war appropriations from Congress. What happen to all those $Billions? We do know VP Chaney's Halliburton and other war industries received big chunks of it in profits, and then there is that missing $8.8 Billion. But, it appears that our troops were short changed as they drive around in unarmored vehicles that provide no protection from bullet fire and roadside bomb blasts.
Reservist Fred Chisholm, a deputy sheriff from Marion County Florida, using good old American ingenuity, conceived the idea of protecting his buddies and himself by lining the sides and floors of their Humvees with flack jackets. So, he sent a request to his boss back home, Sheriff Ed Dean, to round up and send him a load of bulletproof vests. Dean collected more than 850 vests and asked the military to ship them to Iraq. However, Washington officials, in an attempt to cover up Bush's failure to support our troops with the life saving armored vehicles, refused to ship them for months or possibly never at all. Bush typically deals with his failings by attempting to draw public attention away from them. Covering up this atrocity is right in line with his blocking our 'not so free' press from snapping photos of the flag draped coffins of our dead soldiers returning from Iraq and not attending their funerals.
